CHILD PROTECTION STATEMENT – CLUB COMMITMENT

Cottingham Rangers Football Club is fully committed to providing a safe, positive and enjoyable environment for every child and young person who plays football for our club. All children have the right to participate in football free from abuse, harm, and neglect. Safeguarding is therefore the responsibility of every adult involved in Cottingham Rangers, whether in a paid or voluntary role.

We recognise our duty of care and accept our responsibility to safeguard the welfare of all children and young people by protecting them from physical, sexual, or emotional harm, neglect, bullying, or any form of exploitation. We are committed to meeting our safeguarding obligations and ensuring that the football opportunities we provide meet the highest possible standards of care.

These responsibilities apply to everyone working within the club in any capacity. Cottingham Rangers will take all necessary steps to prevent anyone from holding a position of trust within the club if they have a criminal conviction, caution, or record relating to offences involving children, young people, violence, or any sexual offences. This requirement is supported by UK legislation and FA guidance.

Cottingham Rangers Football Club will uphold its child protection commitment by ensuring:

• All managers, assistant managers, coaches, medical staff and club officials who have contact with children and young people must complete the required FA-approved safeguarding checks (including Enhanced DBS checks through approved channels).
• All relevant personnel must complete FA-approved safeguarding and child protection training courses, renewing them as required.
• Any club member who takes responsibility for officiating a fixture in the absence of an appointed referee must ensure that this Child Protection Statement is upheld at all times.
